GOT TO HAVE IT!

If you are anything like me, you love Horror Movies!  All horror--monster, slasher, psychological or supernatural--no matter, it's ALL good.  And, I do love my Horror Movies and the "killers" that roam the screen.  Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Freddy Kruger; the list goes on and on.  The movies and the characters that the film makers created keep me on the edge of my seat every time.

So, what more could a dedicated horror fan want than a Horror Icon calender?  Horror Photographer Ama Lea,    has created one!  The minute I saw it, I had to have it.  The photographs are beautiful.

And here is a link to her professional website Ama Lea Photo.  An amazing artist, and it got me thinking, who other than me would love to have a Horror Shot (kind of like those obnoxious Glamour Shots people have but better?)

Jason Voorhees, FRIDAY THE 13TH made the cover, of course!  And, YEAR OF FEAR is a perfect title.

One of my favorite photos, I mean really?  Could Freddy Kruger look any better?  But, I still love Robert Englund.
Remember to say Freddy's name before you go to sleep at night...
...and have pleasant dreams,

Leather Face and the rest of the boys fill out the calender.

Order it today, I ordered mine already!

for the heads up.  And as for the Hollywood Horror Museum, the tour starts next year and the museum opens (hopefully) in 2018.  And, YES, I will be there for both.

OUT AND ABOUT

We headed to Kingston on Monday to climb aboard a Viking Ship.  Yes you read me correctly, Viking, as in helmet with horns.

The Draken Harald Harfagre  is a Viking Ship built in Norway; it sailed across the Atlantic to travel around the United States.  Her home port is in Haugesund, Norway and her construction started in March of 2010.  She is not a replica, and she is the largest dragon ship built in modern times.  She is named after King Harald Harfagre.  She and her crew set sail on April 24 to follow similar routes Vikings sailed over 1,000 years ago.  She traveled to Iceland, Greenland, Canada and eventually the USA.

She has been in New York State for awhile.  She was in several areas around the Capital Region, but we were unable to get to her early ports of call, so we headed to Kingston were she was docked at the
Hudson River Maritime Museum.

Take a look at this beauty.  The crew was quite busy while in NYS, they had to remove the mast to pass under several bridges and had to take care while passing thru the canal system.  But, they really seemed to enjoy themselves while visiting our state.

Hum, wonder why they call her a dragon ship.

The crew busy at work.

She is a good sized ship by Viking standards, but traveling across the Atlantic?

Proudly flying the flag of Norway.

A photo of her with her sail up.

For more information on her voyage check out the crews facebook page.

NEVER FORGET

Sunday will be (unbelievably) the 15th anniversary of the attack on the United States that unfolded on the Pentagon, the World Trade Center and  in Shanksville, PA.

NO American should ever forget the unspeakable acts that were committed on our soil on 9/11 or that of any other acts of terror against our nation.

A beautiful video remembrance featuring an amazing cover of SOUNDS OF SILENCE by one of my favorite bands Disturbed.  David Draiman's amazing voice is perfectly suited for this passionate song.  And how fitting it is for that fateful day.

A look and listen to the official Disturbed video of SOUNDS OF SILENCE
Truly amazing!  Beautiful and enormously talented men.

OUT AND ABOUT TO CELEBRATE LABOR DAY

Happy Labor Day!  We headed to Saratoga Preforming Arts Center  for a free concert with the ceremonial band Navy Band Northeast;   and the rock band Rhode Island Sound.

We were so pleased to see a huge crowd for the performance.  SPAC is a pretty good sized venue and it was close to full.  There was even some happy people sitting on the lawn.

They offered a wonderful eclectic mix from John Philip Sousa to a medley of John Williams' Star Wars to PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN, that always brings me to tears.
Rhode Island Sound performed selections from Lynyrd Skynyrd, John Mellencamp and Van Morrison.

Here are a couple of videos to enjoy.
